Karen Rae Combs Ranch is beautifully situated in the picturesque hills of Southern Missouri, just a short drive from the Arkansas border and close to the charming community of Couch. Our ranch is nestled by a landscape of gently rolling hills, open pastures, and lush timber, creating a serene and idyllic setting for our cattle.

Our breeding program emphasizes producing cattle with superior phenotype and genetics, consistently meeting our rigorous standards for performance, structure, and quality. We value traits such as udder quality, reproductive efficiency, calm disposition, and strong foot structure, incorporating these traits into our selection criteria alongside a set of balanced EPDs.

We dedicated the majority of our careers to executive roles within a consumer products company based in the Dallas, Texas, area. In 2010, we joined a group that acquired the Silverado Golf Club and Resort in Napa, California. After 11 years of ownership, we transitioned into “retirement” in 2021, settling in Couch, Missouri—Karen’s hometown. Our ranch has become our version of a retirement beach house, offering both challenges and invaluable learning experiences. As those in this industry understand, the work and learning never truly end.

The most rewarding aspect of being part of the registered Angus ranching community has been the people. We have had the privilege of meeting and working alongside individuals who are knowledgeable, supportive, and genuinely dedicated to the industry—people who embody the same values we strive to uphold.

When we entered the registered Angus business, we started by sourcing heifers from some of the top seedstock operations in the country — including Henke Farms, Hinkle, Byrd’s Cattle, Gardiner, and Smith Valley. Looking back, we feel fortunate to have partnered with such high-quality producers and people; their exceptional females now form the foundation of our herd.

While the perfect Angus animal has yet to be achieved, industry leaders continue to push the boundaries of excellence. We are honored to contribute, in our own way, to this ongoing pursuit of progress.
